Summer Archery Program FAQ

Who can participate in the ArrowQuest Archery Summer Program?

The program is open to students entering grades 4–6 in Fall 2026. Students from Sparta and surrounding communities are welcome to participate.

When does the program take place?

ArrowQuest is offered as two separate one-week sessions:

Week 1: July 20–24, 2026
Week 2: July 27–31, 2026

The program runs Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. each day.

Do students need prior archery experience?

No experience is required. The program welcomes both beginners and students with prior archery experience, and instruction is adjusted to support each student’s skill level.

Can my child attend both weeks?

Yes. Campers may register for one or both weeks. Students who attend both weeks will continue developing skills introduced during the first session.

What if my child has never tried archery before?

That’s completely fine. Many campers attend ArrowQuest with no prior archery experience. The program begins with safety instruction and the fundamentals of shooting, and students progress at their own pace.

How are the two weeks different?

Week 1 emphasizes core archery fundamentals and is especially well suited for students who are newer to the sport.
Week 2 continues skill development and practice and is open to all experience levels, including returning campers and students with prior experience.

Where is the program held?

All sessions take place at Helen Morgan School in Sparta, New Jersey. Activities are held indoors, with access to outdoor space for snack and breaks.

How much does the camp cost?

Tuition is $150 per week.
Campers who register for both weeks receive a $20 discount.

Is space limited?

Yes. Each session is limited to 12 students to ensure safe supervision, individual coaching, and plenty of shooting time.

What should my child bring each day?

Students should bring:

• comfortable clothing and sneakers
• a water bottle
• a snack

All archery equipment is provided.

What does a typical session look like?

Each session follows a consistent structure so students can build skills while having fun. We begin with warm-up shooting, where students shoot a few rounds to settle in and review good habits.

After that, we move into instruction and coaching, focusing on skills such as stance, posture, aiming, and release, followed by guided practice.

Sessions typically include a short break and a snack, and we often finish with a fun activity or challenge, such as shooting at balloons or novelty targets.

Throughout the program, we emphasize three core values: Focus, Listen, and Grow.

Is archery safe for beginners?

Yes. Safety is the top priority of the program. Students learn clear range procedures and safety rules before shooting. Activities are supervised closely by trained staff at all times.

Will my child receive individual instruction?

Yes. The small group format allows instructors to provide personal coaching and feedback as students practice.

What happens if my child becomes sick during the program?

If a camper becomes ill during camp, they will be separated from the group and supervised while a parent or guardian is contacted. A parent or authorized adult must pick up the camper as soon as possible.

Does my child need to bring their own archery equipment?

No. All archery equipment is provided.

Who is the instructor?

The program is led by Marco Vergara, one of the coaches of the Sparta Archery Team and an experienced educator. Additional staff may assist during camp sessions to ensure safe supervision and instruction.

Are forms or waivers required?

Yes. Registration includes required forms such as a liability waiver, emergency contact information, health information, and immunization record submission.

What if my child needs to be picked up by someone else?

During registration, parents may list authorized pickup individuals who are permitted to pick up their child.

What happens after I register?

After registering, you will receive a confirmation message. Closer to the start of the program, parents will receive an email with additional details about what to bring, arrival procedures, and other helpful information.
