Welcome to ArrowQuest – A New Adventure in Youth Archery
Hi, I’m Mr. Vergara — founder of ArrowQuest, certified NASP archery instructor, and lifelong educator. I created ArrowQuest to be more than just a program — it’s a resource and a growing community where kids can discover the focus, confidence, and joy that archery has to offer.
Whether you’re a parent looking for a safe and structured introduction to the sport, or a teacher or coach seeking guidance for your own students, ArrowQuest exists to support young archers and their families.
👋 Who Am I?
My journey with archery began over 25 years ago, when I became a certified instructor through the National Archery Association (now known as USA Archery) and spent the summer helping Boy Scouts earn their archery merit badges. Since then, I’ve continued my training through NASP (National Archery in the Schools Program) and now coach the Helen Morgan School Archery Team right here in Sparta, NJ.
In addition to archery, I’m a full-time educator, teaching Spanish to students in 3rd through 5th grade at Helen Morgan and Mohawk Avenue School. Before that, I also taught music. Across every subject, I’ve always believed that with patience, structure, and encouragement, every child can succeed.
Archery is no exception.
🎯 Our Approach: Building Skills Through Structure
At ArrowQuest, instruction is rooted in the NASP 11 Steps to Archery Success, a clear, safe, and student-friendly process that empowers kids to grow with each shot. These 11 steps are:
- Stance
- Nock
- Draw Hand Set
- Bow Hand Set
- Pre-Draw
- Draw
- Anchor
- Aim
- Shot Set-Up
- Release
- Follow Through / Reflect
This foundation helps archers of all skill levels build confidence, develop coordination, and find their focus — one arrow at a time.
☀️ What’s Happening This Summer
We’re excited to kick off our first official ArrowQuest Archery Enrichment Program this summer at Helen Morgan School, running July 28 through August 1, 2025. This one-week experience is designed for rising 3rd–5th graders, and will offer hands-on instruction, fun activities, and a chance to grow in both skill and self-confidence. Space is limited — registration opens June 16!
